Start feeling instead of thinking

When did I become so involved with my thoughts, that I let my intuition, gut and feeling slip away?
We are raised, especially as a female, to look, act, want, enjoy, taste, travel, learn, strive and dream in a certain way.
This makes me sad.
Actually this burns like a fire in my belly. This is unfair! Why would I let the world dictate a 'one size fits all' approach to life?
As a mother, we naturally want the best for our children.
Unfortunately removing the 'struggle' in our children's lives has become all too common place. It starts from the heart, and wanting to protect their innocent souls.
However, we need to let our children feel, struggle, be let down, see sad stories on the news, be educated about the harsh reality of how we treat our animals.
In doing that, we must also guide our children through the process of struggle so they can learn, grow and make better choices for themselves and ultimately society.
How many of you have been so caught up in the daily monologue of what you should be doing instead of what your body FEELS like doing?
We all have responsibilities, bills will always be there, washing will always pile up, our children will still need dinner, but what if we forget the 'need' for things to be done?
How can we feel our way through tasks, desires, dreams, study, conversations, chores, gardening, walking the dog, swimming at the beach, cutting up vegemite sandwiches?
I know I feel so much more connected to my body if I let it feel what comes next and how I choose to act on those feelings. The more we resist feeling, the more cloudy our minds become and unstable our behavior becomes.
Trust your intuition and let yourself feel. It may be the greatest gift of self care we have.
